Since its inception in 2004, DSST Public Schools has changed the conversation about what is possible in education both in Colorado and throughout this country.
All kids deserve to go to college.
DSST Public Schools was created on the belief that all kids, regardless of their race, gender or socioeconomic status, can succeed in a rigorous, college preparatory program with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus and attend the four-year college of their choice. Beginning with our first graduating class in 2008, every graduating class has had a 100% college acceptance and attendance rate, and our students have boasted the lowest college remediation rate in the city.
Culture is king.
DSST Public Schools is a community of students, teachers, parents, and faculty that deeply believe that in order to succeed in college, students need to be held to high expectations. We believe that when everyone shares the same values, we can reach ambitious goals and support eachother in our progress towards them. Every year, students and faculty publicly sign a poster listing our shared core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, doing your best, courage and curiosity, and agree to uphold them personally in their lives. Students and faculty also gather daily in morning meetings at each of our campuses to share information and connect our actions to the core values daily.
We need you.
We believe that by the year 2020, Denver Public Schools will be the premier urban school district in this country. To help achieve this vision, we are expanding our network of schools from one campus with a middle school and a high school, to 5 different campuses and 10 total schools by the year 2020. By expanding our network to reach 4200 kids, we intend to double the number of college ready DPS seniors by 2020. Over the next 10 years, we will be greatly expanding our network and we need incredibly talented educators, deans, instructional leaders, and school directors to achieve this vision.
