Stapleton High School
DSST: Stapleton High School was the first school to open in the DSST Public Schools network, with 130 9th graders in August 2004. In May of 2008, DSST: Stapleton High School graduated its first class of seniors. To date, 100% of DSST graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges. Of the 2012 graduating seniors, 100% intend to pursue higher education this fall; 51% are first generation college-bound. DSST: Stapleton has consistently been the highest performing secondary school in Denver Public Schools, based on growth and absolute performance. DSST: Stapleton High School was one of three top finalists in 2010’s national Race to the Top Commencement Challenge, out of over 1,000 schools that applied.
The DSST: Stapleton campus has been recognized by the American Architectural Foundation as a well designed school.
DSST: Stapleton High School’s program has a college preparatory focus, with an emphasis on developing core liberal arts skills in reading, writing, mathematics and science. Students succeed through a highly structured classroom environment with clear academic and behavioral expectations. This program and environment prepare students for the challenges of college without remediation classes.
