Weekly Poll Results: Higher Ed Focii
Before I go on to summarize the results of last week’s poll question: “Did you pursue a STEM major in college or grad school?” I want to quickly chime in on poll-summarizing in general.
Each week, I truly look forward to logging into the survey to extract the results. Shout out to our honest and creative pollees. Thanks for always keeping it interesting! And, now, to the results at hand…
- 41% of the respondents pursued STEM in higher education
- 59% of the respondents had a different focus in college or grad school
The comments this time, for the most part, included remarks on other majors pursued. Everything from art to math to architecture to Latin American studies. We certainly have a well-rounded bunch.
There were a few humorous comments on STEM, such as, “STEM is for nerds,” (we all know “nerd” is a compliment at DSST). Many also went on to comment on other subjects they love/wished they had pursued – archeology – or to provide an extra nugget of wisdom regarding STEM subjects – don’t lose sight of creativity in the process of preparing for STEM.
This week, we even got a few “hmmmm”s in our comments field – and I will leave you with another, “hmmmm,” while encouraging you to think more on the value of higher education.
