Bill’s Weekly Reflection: I Need Your Help Finding the Next Flower Man Story
Do you remember Caine's Arcade? At Infusion 2012, we shared the amazing story of Caine and the arcade he created. At Infusion 2011, we shared The Flower Man, Mark Ludy’s wordless picture book illustrating the power of making a difference one person at a time - bringing love and hope to a community. These are timeless stories of hope, making a difference and transforming lives. They illustrate the impact of the ripple effect.
You all are a part of similar stories every day at school. You are inspiring the next Caine and serving as the Flower Man to your students in large and small ways. And you are bringing hope to communities through the values you live each day and the extraordinary education you are providing our students.
I need your help as we search to find new stories of transformation like Caine and the Flower Man. Over the next three weeks, I ask you to send me stories you have seen that demonstrate the ripple effect. It could be a story – true or fiction, a video, a picture or a cartoon. Like Caine’s Arcade, the “story” you choose should describe in some way the power of the ripple effect. Please send them to me bill.kurtz@scienceandtech.org . We will collect these stories and select especially meaningful ones to share with everyone in DSST Public Schools in the coming year.
