It is time for the creation of the second annual DSST Culture Book. What is the culture book? The culture book is a tradition we stole from Zappos – the online shoe company. Zappos celebrates their culture and all things Zappos in their annual culture book. We thought it was a pretty good idea.
I want to take a moment to sincerely thank all of our teachers across our six schools. You have done extraordinary work on behalf of our students this year. Teaching is fulfilling work, but also very hard work. There is no more important job in our society today than teaching our young people the academic skills they need to thrive in a competitive world, the values to contribute to our civic fabric, and the hunger to keep learning. Thank you to each one of you for giving of yourself to deeply impact our 2,100 students. Our ability to accomplish our mission, to eliminate educational inequity, is built on the great belief we have in each one of you.
35 female students in the STEMgirls program at DSST: Cole Middle School are entering the 2013 Technovation Challenge, a national competition that allows female students to create and develop an app for the Android market. 2013 marks the first year middle school girls will be allowed to compete in the Technovation Challenge.

We take this mission seriously. This past week, one of the most important measures of whether we are accomplishing this mission was released – college remediation rates. Last year, DSST: Stapleton High School had the 6th lowest remediation rate of all public high schools in Colorado (who have more than 16 students who matriculated in college).
Last Friday, our DSST: Stapleton High School celebrated an amazing accomplishment – 100% of our Seniors (92 students) have received acceptances to a four-year college. Please see this 9NEWS 100% video. This is the sixth consecutive year every single DSST: Stapleton High School Senior has been accepted to a four-year college.
DSST: Stapleton High School has made the extraordinary – routine… a true sign of enduring excellence.
